Antique Bronze Bas Relief Portrait of Marie Amelie de Bourbon

A superb French oval bronze bas relief portrait of Marie-Amelie de Bourbon, wife of Louis Philippe (king of France 1830-48) and the last queen of France. Cast, hand-chased and signed with an incised signature "Caunois" 1833, this lovely image was produced soon after the restoration of the monarchy. Francois Augustin Caunois (1787 - 1859) was a celebrated sculptor and bronze medal maker in the first half of the 19th century. Presented in original ebonised frame. France, 1833.
