A fine oval 17th century portrait of a gentleman with long hair and in elaborate attire, including a ruffled lace shirt and embroidered silk over-garments. Attributed to the celebrated Flemish portrait painter Jacob Ferdinand Voet (1639 – 1689). Voet painted in France and Italy where he made portraits for an elite clientele. He is regarded as one of the great portrait painters of the Late Baroque. Oil on canvas, cleaned and varnished, with minor early ‘patch’ repairs. Signed or ascribed on reverse. Measurements: painting 75cm x 60cm.
